Been Here So Long is a partnership project between Reel Asian International Film Festival and Vtape that saw eight local artists commissioned to create new short films examining and exploring Asian Canadian histories within Ontario. Using their own archival materials – home movies, family photos, personal documents – each produced a work that offers challenging questions for official views of multiculturalism. Each reworks and re-imagines story-telling from the perspective of Asian Canadian diaspora, raising issues of displacement. cultural stereotyping and inter-generational memory. The full programme was screened on Friday Nov. 0, 2017, at TIFF Bell Lightbox in the 21st Annual Reel Asian International Film Festival.
