This year, imagineNATIVE and its co-founder, Vtape, have collaborated to present Following that Moment, a critical discussion and presentation of a series of short video works from the 1990s by guest curator Lisa Myers. Considering the context of performance and new media work made by Indigenous artists in the 1990s, Following that Moment looks back at video art before the first imagineNATIVE Festival in 2000.
Myers’ experimental video program brings together works by Dana Claxton, Thirza Cuthand, Joane Cardinal Schubert, Zachery Longboy and Mike MacDonald, and follows moments in the 1990s where web, performance and media art flourished in Indigenous art practice.
Event details: 3:30p.m. at TIFF Bell Lightbox, Reitman Square, 350 King St W, Cinema 3
