Recently, Vtape staff discovered a long-forgotten hoard in the organization’s subterranean cellars: XX copies of a limited-edition catalogue of Colin Campbell’s classic 1976 video The Woman From Malibu.

Published by Art Metropole in an edition of 500 in 1978, this catalogue has been unavailable for decade, but we will now be selling these rare copies as a fundraiser to begin the process of rebuilding Vtape’s Collections Management Fund.

Between 2019 and 2024, at no cost to the artists and with no outside funding, Vtape restored and digitized all of the remaining tape-based works in our catalogue — many hundreds of videos, which were thus returned to practical distribution! In parallel with this digitization push, we also began to re-catalogue all of the media works we distribute using newly developed subject, genre, key word, and other metadata descriptors. All of this work is incredibly laborious and time-consuming, and by 2024 we had spent down the organization’s Collections Management Reserve fund, which had been designated by Vtape’s board of directors to support this kind of work.
