Vtape would like to publicly acknowledge the retirement of co-founders Lisa Steele and Kim Tomczak in 2023, after more than 40 years working for the organization! In addition to their many other commitments, and their formidable art practices, for the past many years, Lisa and Kim were in charge of public programming and of the technical and collections management operation, respectively. Without them, Vtape would simply not exist! Their long-range vision and wise guidance have helped steer the organization through innumerable changes in funders’ priorities, censorship battles, inter-organizational alliances and collaborations, financial ups and downs, renovations, and the endless everyday demands on a distributor that also does public programming, provides technical services to artists and arts institutions, and does a lot of education and training.
