Cole and Dale’s second student film is a tribute to their friends living alternative lifestyles in downtown Toronto during the 1970’s. We meet a transexual, homosexual, streetwalker and trio of drag performers. The filmmakers structure their film to bring the audience into their world, relate to them, breakdown stereotypes and dispel labels. Michelle Ross is showcased in one of her earliest performances — before she went on to become a Toronto icon and one of the most world-renowned drag performers to emerge from Canada.
“We are given access to a 1970’s queer avant-la-letter society where identity is blissfully unmoored from biology…” — Jon Davies
