The Space of Pottery explores the work, creative process and philosophical perspective of internationally acclaimed ceramicist Paul Mathieu, whose multi-layered works in porcelain defy conventional boundaries of craft, sculpture and representation. The many stages of ceramic process unfold as Mathieu creates a piece inspired by theoretical physicist Stephen Hawkings' book, A Brief History of Time. Interviews and numerous finished artworks further reveal the complexity of Mathieu's work. This videotape allows the viewer to experience works of art temporally and evokes an enhanced understanding of both the individual artist and his timeless medium.
