My Elbows Collapsed is a documentary that attempts to reveal the human face of AIDS that lies behind the mask of scientific statistics and politicized opinion. It is a documentary about HIV diagnosis, representation and personal empowerment.

In an attempt to bring the issues and consequences of AIDS and HIV diagnosis to the broadest possible audience My Elbows Collapsed focuses upon four very different people who have each been diagnosed with HIV and who are variously symptomatic. The tape anchors each into their unique, yet ultimately familiar, environment and allows them to express their own concerns candidly and with honesty.
Ultimately, My Elbows Collapsed brings us to a greater understanding of what it means to be HIV positive in our society. We get a profound sense of four lives that have become more personally empowered since their own diagnosis and we come to know four individuals who have not let misfortune defeat them.
