Defiance is a conceptual video that examines the resilience of lesbian desire in the face of insidious and relentless hetereosexism and homophobia. The soundtrack and the sparse visual track are set in opposition to one another exploring a relationship of tension. The visual track, consisting of one long take of two lovers embracing, overcomes the audio track-- resisting and defying the cacophony of homophobia expressed through the voiceover. The visual track persists, compelling us to watch, and thus, desire defies the banality of everyday hatred.
