El Dia Del Muertos

Steev Morgan

1987, 05:00 minutes, colour

To the Mayan natives of Guatemala, who practice a magical blend of Christianity and ancient pagan faith, death is not an end but a transition time. The Mayans gather in family groups at their family grave sites and have a picnic, flying kites to help guide any earthbound spirits heavenward. It is a positive emotional experience for all involved, re-affirming the bond between living and dead while freeing them from their earthly commitment to each other.
