Tell Me A Story: Robert Chesley's Jerker preview
1990, 27:00 minutes, colour, English
TAPECODE 282.03
Using an interview with American playwright Robert Chesley as an anchor for a traditional documentary approach, the tape merges Chesley's personal vision with footage from the Toronto production of his play Jerker (rehearsal and performance). What emerges is a powerful portrait of the writer and his work, in addition to a fascinating look at the challenge faced by MacLean (director and videographer) as he brings his ideas of the play Jerker together with those of his subject - playwright Chesley.
