A Dirty Little Story seeks to examine the rhetoric and representation of certain registers of sexual fantasy - by telling new stories and resurrecting old stories - from the terrorizing fairy tales half-remembered from childhood, to the taboo-breaking confessions of socially uncondoned adult fantasy (in this instance, specifically lesbian), it is an attempt to understand and to give form to how the frames of desire and fantasy are constantly shifting.

The video, which places "documentary" footage into "narrative" contexts, follows one female character through Southwestern environments from desert landscapes to Disneyland. Neither conventionally sequential nor narrative, A Dirty Little Story is constructed "vertically", in three basic sections, throughout each of which different aspects of some recurring fantasies occur. The audio track uses similar vertical layering, combining memories, voice-overs, music, found sound, and personal text to add resonance and counterpoint to the visual tracks.
