Vesalius began as a lyrical documentation of the paintings and sculpture of Margaret Chen. Dark and largely abstract, though with direct references to fragmented, decaying bodies coming out of, and merging with, the landscape. The text is adapted from the writing of Andreas Vesalius, Renaissance anatomist. The soundtrack was composed by Peter Chin. At the time, Steve Reinke, Peter Chin, and Margaret Chen were all undergraduates at York University in Toronto.
