Black Holes / Heavenly Bodies - Hell

Marshall Reese and Nora Ligorano

1992, 16:00 minutes, colour, English

Hell portrays the American dream with an unrelenting familiarity, playing off comedies and newspaper tabloids to encapsulate the terrors of media run amok. Our two main characters, Mrs. Jacuzzi and Willie are baby-sitters in a family with 2.2 kids, a house in the suburbs and all the trappings that began with Leave it to Beaver and have continued with The Cosby Show. Yet, things are not just so. The kids for instance, are devil kids (with horns) forever disruptive, diabolically conspiring how to outwit Willie and Mrs. Jacuzzi in a never-ending nuclear family battle.

Hell is a minimalist sitcom, each part repeating and continuing just a little bit further on its way to eery resolution.
