TAPECODE 10099

Five Walks in the fictional Waters (1994-1995) is a CD ROM project where matters of technology, science, medicine and gender play themselves out within poetic spaces and within poetic 'narrative' structure. A series of short stories are told; about a woman of science, a cargo cult, a woman who thought she understood another person after a caress an unfinished story about the spurious death of two young women, and a story about healing oneself through self-inflicted wounds are the narratives of this work.
"The allegory of a woman forced to tell stories in order to save her life is used as the foundation of this CD ROM and appropriately speaks to my relationship with computer technology. For me, the shifting between the space of the stories and the teller (the reference to Scherezade), is used as a way of acknowledging that I am behind these stories, their situation and their context."
