Bloody Flyovers

1996, colour, English

TAPECODE 10159

In artist Sophie Tottie's Web site Bloody Flyovers, photographs of public squares and plazas alternate with computer assisted images in which the human hand becomes prominent. Scale - from the long view to the screen detail - is skewed and confused as the images accumulate in the mind's eye.
This work considers the role of abstraction and how it affects the shaping social space, and knits together the private and the public in an uneasy field of shared information.
