2 Bits a Ride

Gerry Kisil

1997, 10:00 minutes, colour

Further examining the fragmented images of contemporary popular culture in a rural context, 2 Bits a Ride documents a country rodeo with the analytical eye of a rodeo judge. A curious thing happens though once the bucking action is slowed down and we are able to examine what is actually happening. The most striking thing is seeing the bucking animals in unnatural, visually grotesque, positions trying to dislodge the rider. Clearly, these animals are not having much fun.
