On Hypochondria is an experimental documentary which realizes the failure of our modern medical practices. Computerized voice-overs along with personal journals and impersonal objects convey the disassociation and feeling of tragedy/comedy of a health seeker who becomes the victim rather than the beneficiary of health treatments. The melodramatic process begins with advice from conventional wisdom, mainstream doctors, alternative "doctors" and finally "self help" relief through the Internet where information, while perhaps questionable, is readily available. Within our modern health care, the focus is on the consumption of sterilized technological tools and medical products; patients become objects of utilization. Those who do not fit within the recognized categories may be considered "hypochondriacs".
