You go on a journey. You are looking for something. What you find is something else. Between geography and imagination, the place enters through your senses.

Many travelers and tourists carry video cameras with them. They arrive in far away places looking for images they have seen before. Often what they find is something else. The tapes they make become a tangible residue of memory: you can take the tapes home and show them to other people: "This is where I have been". The traveler who returns to the country of their childhood is looking for memories, but new experiences, which render the overall picture in greater detail, and its absences in more clarity.

Stravaig / Errance (Gaelic and French for 'wandering') is an experimental portrait of a place, Scotland, as seen through the eyes of a tourist/traveler who is returning to the country of her childhood.
