kickstART! A Celebration

Lorna Boschman and Society for Disability Arts and Culture

2003, 13:00 minutes, Colour, English

In August 2001, the Society for Disability Arts and Culture (S4DAC) presented the first festival of it's kind in Canada. The kickstART! Celebration of Disability Arts and Culture highlighted the distinct perspectives and creativity of artists and performers with all types of disabilities from across Canada and around the Globe.

Four days of performances, symposium sessions and participatory workshops provided opportunities to explore new territory in visual and literary arts, dance, theatre, music, video and humour.

This video offers a glimpse of the variety of exciting performances and activities which heralded Canada's arrival on a vibrant international disability culture scene.

The Society for Disability Arts & Culture presents and promotes works by artists with disabilities. To learn more about what we do, visit our website at
