This video highlights what happens when the Secwepemc assert their Title and Rights to their traditional lands. The Secwepemc maintain that they own their lands and have never sold, surrendered, or entered into treaties. To assert Title to the lands, the Secwepemc build a permanent home at Spirit Lake (MacGillvray Lake) for a young family. The Secwepemc were charged with trespassing and the home was demolished by the Government of British Columbia. Two sacred sweat lodges were also demolished.
