An ironic look at the ties that bind, Puppets evokes the real and symbolic control of parents over children. With playful dark humor, Puppets offers a second look at the seemingly innocuous "Mister Rogers Neighborhood" and finds subtext in what appears to be a simple lesson in ventriloquism. Like my later series Third Known Nest, this early tape explores the language and rhythms of music video.
