All young boys long to be powerful, but most of them just have to wait to grow up. In Cloudbreaker, Darren decides to take his life, his culture, and his identity into his own hands. He combines elements of half-understood native traditions, witchcraft, and comic books to create a dangerous ritual, which he believes will transform him forever.

As he secretly prepares for the day of the ceremony, he meets Jason, a scruffy kid with an interest in magic. The two retreat to a construction site in the neighbourhood to complete their task. Once the ground is prepared, and the potion begins to move through Darren's body, there is no turning back. If the transformation is successful, he will be able to move the very clouds in the sky; if he fails, the results could be fatal.
