Der König (The King)

A man sings the well known German folk song "It doesn't take much to be happy and if you're happy, you're a king!" This rather simplistic moral statement of the song is carried out to absurdity. The lonely singer sings rounds with himself until he expands into a 'men's choir' made up of him alone. The singer makes a tremendous effort and, through his enthusiasm, reveals his pressing desire to attain merriment. In the process, his faces and the song's message disintegrate into an incredibly intense duplication.
