There are so few realistic images of Indian people in today’s media that when you see an Indian you want to grab hold of and squeeze it for all it's worth. The first time I saw the new Lakota ads on T.V. Russell Means had been replaced with non Indians in war bonettes. This compelled me to reclaim the voice in the ad and change the meaning by rearranging the words in the ad. Now the ad gives a message from an Indian perspective, rather then using a native image to sell a product that has little or nothing to do with Indians.
