Producer/Director Rita Shelton Deverell’s own McCarthy and the Old Woman is the story of theatre pioneer Florence James (d. 1988), blacklisted in the 1940’s in the USA and subsequently making a significant contribution to Saskatchewan and Canadian culture.
Solo Flight West is an anthology TV series of 1-hour passionate, personal, sometimes political plays generated by Canada’s prolific theatre Fringe Festival scene -- drama, comedy, historical, journalistic -- most frequently written and performed by 1-creator, at most 2 performers.
Solo Flight West has elements of Ethnic Diversity, History & Culture, Regional, Aboriginal Issues, and Social and Political Issues (the Cold War, cross-cultural friendship, etc.). Audience is ages 13 through adult.
