The video "Motion" is the third in The Complexity Series based on sequences of evolving patterns generated by mathematical rules or algorithms. The patterns were captured frame by frame from a program written in the Java language. These images were then further manipulated using "After Effects" to create motion and colour. A music sound track was composed using open source loops and synchronized to the changing images. The video attempts to visualize sound.

The Complexity Series (4 videos): In early 2000, I started writing computer programs in Java using evolutionary algorithms to generate patterns and abstract images. My goal was to use the changing images not only as 2-D art but also as the basis for animated films to explore the relationship between sounds and images.
