The relentlessness of urban expansion leaves a wake of displaced people and spaces that cling to a tenuous existence. Life in the Fast Lane explores the emotionality of longing and loss as the landscape of lives and memories is squeezed out, paved over and obliterated.

Ben Madill who originally owned a 200-acre farmstead in Toronto Township has tenaciously remained on his last 5 acres surrounded by Highways 401 and 10 within the encroaching city of Mississauga. A short distance away, engulfed by Canada’s busiest intersection (highways 401, 427, 27) sits the Richview Memorial Cemetery, perhaps the country’s least peaceful graveyard. This video explores the last gasp of these rural relics threatened by the relentless urban sprawl.
