Histoires de lumière

Karen Trask

2009, 13:00 minutes, B&W

A 13 minute looped video is projected in the corner of a darkened space.

Over a period of several months I videotaped the shadows and light projected into my studio from tourist boats passing nightly on the Seine River in Paris. By projecting life-size into the corner of the gallery space, a Paris nightscape of both sound and image comes to life. Watching the shadows move about the room - both my own standing in front of the window and those of the people, cars and trees from the street outside is strangely hypnotic.
