Paysage nocturne: touche impossible

Karen Trask

2011, 03:00 minutes, colour, Silent

A looped 3-minute video is projected onto a framed painted surface, which is hung on the wall.

A woman's hand gently caresses the outline of a man's profile cast by the setting sun as shadow onto a wall. This work recalls the myth of the first painting as told by Pliny the elder. In the myth, a young woman, saddened by the imminent departure of her lover, traces his shadow profile onto her bedroom wall.
