These short docs by teenaged girls explore cultural identity, body image, gender politics and violence against women. Each of the four films are available to screen separately; a DVD with all four is available for purchase. SkyWorks’ Real Change Girls Film Project was launched in January of 2012 in partnership with Plan Canada’s Because I am a Girl Speakers Bureau, Charles Street Video, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education Centre for Urban Schooling, and the Toronto Public Library. From January to May, eleven participants, ages 15 – 19, directed, shot and edited four short documentaries about issues facing girls and women today. The films were premiered to a packed house at the Toronto Reference Library on June 14, 2012.
