Les crevasses foisonnent de miniatures hérétiques / Crevasses abound of heretic miniatures
2015, 08:18 minutes, colour, English and French
In this fictionalized autobiography, a childlike voiceover portrays with an ingenuous but also acerbe tone the world that surrounds her. In between Alpine traditional songs, images from archives and pictures of zany DIY mini sculptures and drawings, the viewer is caught in a dense collage that blends intimate, local and national histories. Taboos about family, relationships, sexuality, race, French colonial war in Algeria, classism and white privilege are addressed by the naive questions of the narrator. These questions reflect on a social landscape that has been damaged by ignorance and violence.
Les crevasses foisonnent de miniatures hérétiques / Crevasses abound of heretic miniatures is an unlikely slideshow that underlines stereotypes embedded in the everyday language of history in order to debunk them.
