What you see is what you expect to see.
Your expectancy decides what you recognize.
When your expectancy is denied, your visual sense gets lost.
Instead, you see something different there.

You feel something strange when you see these images of the ocean-waves.
They are simply upside down.

Turn your head upside down and watch the movements of these waves.
They are quite ordinary, nothing special.

It is not very unusual that you make the assumption of what you are looking at
before you recognize what it really is.

We cannot recognize even very familiar things under unusual conditions.
Instead, we may get quite fresh experience from there.
