Bakergram is a video performance and installation drawing upon the experiences of and misrepresentations of Josephine Baker. This piece plays with time in order to discover and create alternative narratives that engage with the idea of the pain of assimilation and misrepresentation. In my video Baker's 'savage' dance in Princess Tam Tam is projected and played forward and in reverse while I write quotes/ statements from Baker and Fanon onto bananas which are then distributed to the audience/ viewers.
