“... [M]y home, where I grew up with my parents and all of my siblings, was demolished after my mother, who appears for a split second [in the film] with her... beloved dog, Mika, passed away in 2017 at age 108. Most of the images in this film... were made out of what I saw from the window of my mother’s house in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, and the snow images taken on my way to the mountain outside Sapporo to ski and the winter ocean in Kiritappu, the eastern part of Hokkaido, where my eldest brother was a ‘country doctor’ for over 40 years.” – Kyoko Michishita
