Sherry Pictou
Sherry Pictou is a community leader and former Chief of L’sitkuk / Bear River First Nation (Mi’kmaq). Currently an Interdisciplinary PhD candidate at Dalhousie University, Sherry’s research focuses on Indigenous understandings of treaty, worldviews and land-based food and livelihood practices. Sherry is active locally and internationally in defense of Indigenous Peoples’ rights. She serves a member of the Coordinating Committee for the World Forum of Fisheries Peoples (WFFP) and as an associate member of the Bay of Fundy Marine Resource Centre.
