Ken Morrison
This is the first film project for Ken Morrison. He cultivated a 40+ year career as a thought leader in health policy and programming, training, communications and learning to reduce stigma and discrimination in HIV service delivery. Ken is Canadian, a long-time resident of Mexico, and speaks English, French and Spanish fluently. Most recently, Ken has produced a film on the role of activism in the global AIDS Response. He and colleagues pioneered a state-level HIV/STI strategic planning model for combination prevention in 14 of 32 Mexican states. The project improved integral health services for key populations, including trans persons. Building on his earlier work to develop a conceptual model on HIV/AIDS and gender-related stigma and discrimination, Ken has focused on the dynamics of programming to build social capital and its role in promoting resilience for vulnerable populations. Until recently, Ken coordinated Latin American and Caribbean regional training efforts for the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico (INSP). The extensive list of projects and agencies that Ken has worked with includes the USAID Health Policy Projects, International Council of AIDS Service Organizations, the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, the International AIDS Society, UNAIDS, UNDP, and the Global Forum and LAC region network on MSM. Ken also distinguished himself as an organizer of thematic conferences, from the level of regional and global community forums to international scientific gatherings on AIDS, such as AIDS 1998 in Geneva. While Ken is a regional expert in Latin America and the Caribbean, he has worked extensively in several West African initiatives and has extensive experience in Asia and across Africa.
