Artist

Tania Huerta

Tania Huerta was born in Brazil, to Japanese and Spanish parents, and immigrated to Toronto at an early
age. She received a B.A. in Visual Arts from the university of Toronto, at Scarborough Campus. She received her MFA from Concordia University in Open Media. Her videos explore issues of her own identity and her relationship between place and herself. The work often focuses on her own physicality. Physicality as endurance, duration, her ethnic appearance and gender. A lot of her video is done in a single take, with very little, if any editing. This allows her to be both an uninterrupted observer and observee in her work and
enables her to directly confront questions around identity, identification, and display in both a personal and public way. She is currently living in Toronto.
