Passing Through: Notre Dame Cathedral
2003, 02:00 minutes, Colour, English
TAPECODE 701.06
This work is part of a single channel video series called Passing Through.
I turn the camera towards myself as I walk through various places. This is done by mounting the camera on a tripod and holding it against my stomach so that it is slightly above me. Each video in this series was recorded in a single take. The single take approach allows me to be both an uninterrupted observer and observee in my work, and enables me to directly confront questions around identity, identification, and display both in a personal and public way.
This video was shot at the Notre Dame Cathedral (Basilica) in Montreal.
The entire series is available as a continuous presentation, uninterrupted by credits, upon request.
