Daybi (day-bye):
I once asked Daybi where his name came from he simply replied "the past". Upon further investigation "the past" of Daybi is as tumultuous as it is inspiring and amazing.

Fast forward to the age of 15. Daybi hits the road. Growing up free has it's disadvantages. Especially when the freedoms you have are taken away. Daybi's father had made a positive change in his life "No mo getting crunk" and needed some time to work it out. By this time Daybi and his family relocated to Vancouver. After getting thrown out school for "let's not talk about it" Daybi was really out on his own and trying to get away from the trouble he was getting into.

After some investigation and help from the Krispy Biscuit radio show he found what would be his real passion. A culture that would incorporate all his artisic abilities into one focus. Hip-hop.

More into technical development as opposed to being "acceptable in a scene". Daybi headed to the City of Los Angeles as well as New York to really be a part of the communities and social climate that the music came from. With months spent in South Central, Los Angeles and years in NY.

Not only has his experience's abroad have been beneficial to his hip-hop interests. They have also allowed others to utilize his other talents as well. This includes, writing, promotion, multi-media work, song writing/performance, video/film production, musical scoring, directing, photography, and a whole lot more. Daybi is one of those rare entities that seem to adapt to any medium with always an intelligent stylistic offering in whatever the forum may be. His work ouside of the hip-hop realm has been reviewed admired and sought by some of the most notable organizations, companies, artists and people throughout North America. Although happy with his accomplishments most of this work was done to sustain his life and family.

Daybi's website: won the Best New Media Award at the imagineNATIVE festival, his new video Neutral won Best Emerging Artist Award and will be screened at the Native American Film & Video Festival. Daybi is also going to be profiled by CBC Radio Journalist Cate Friesen in 2004 and was recently profiled on Much Music.

Daybi is a multi-talented artist, director, producer and party machine. His life is filled with beautiful pain and drama. His work is no real extension of who he is, because it just is. He likes long walks and paint by number kits. If you see him run away because he might try and put you in one of his movies…beeeeeeep.
