In this non-narrative short film, shot on 16mm and voiced entirely in questions from a young girl, the filmmaker weds footage of her daughters playing in an abandoned quarry with the inexhaustible curiosity of a child. The youngest daughter’s questions address a vast range of knowledge, moving, as she and her sister attempt to climb a mountain of gravel, from the mundane to the personal to the scientific to the ethical to the metaphysical. When the girls come back to ground level, the questions start back at the beginning, and the film reveals itself to be more than a sentimental record of childish innocence, but a tribute to the inquisitiveness of artists, scientists, and everyone who retains the wonder of seeing the world anew.
