Suction
1985, 05:00 minutes, English
TAPECODE 9905
This video presupposes a lifestyle dependent upon an external force to fill a cultural void. This force is not unlike suction in a vacuum cleaner. The video focuses on the receiver as he receives and consumes the T.V. signal. The parallel between reception and consumption is emphasized as he pushes a vacuum cleaner sucking up dirt. The consumption results in a full vacuum cleaner. The receiver attempts to return the waste to the producer. He dumps the vacuum bag over the screen. The receiver is left to suck up the waste and resume consumption.
