In this video documentary, black women speak out about their oppression as women and as black women. Despite the official jargon to the contrary, there exists in Brazil a racially segregated class system, where wealth belongs to a small white elite. The women describe how they cope with this discrimination, how they created ways to validate their lives and experiences with their own music and religion. Sensitively made, using an intense interview/portrait style, the tape celebrates the many faces of black women in Brazil.
