An evocation of a haunted personal and collective memory, fluctuating between loss and pain and hope; of a social/personal consciousness in transit between a collapsed past and a utopian future. Tracing the relationship between landscape and history as it reflects through the distorted prism of memory, Leaving the Old Ruin uses image-processing to parallel the mechanisms of memory: the way it attacks, the way an image triggers off a cluster of images...
