Compelled by mounting fears during the devastating early years of AIDS, News From Home is a collaboration with Stathis Lagoudakis made while at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A fractured narrative, News From Home pries under the veneer of daily gesture and ritual to uncover the roles we play in family, friendship, love or sex. This ambivalent fiction reflects a growing interest in drama and actors. The people in this world live under the pitiless glare of surveillance cameras. Seduced and terrorized by the wiles of TV news, there's no escape from its uncanny knack for burrowing beneath our collective skin. The bleak, paranoid tone of News From Home stands in sharp relief to my subsequent rage and defiance in They are lost to vision altogether.
