TEASE [c. 1992]

In the early 1990's, deeply inspired by the cultural guerilla warfare of Toronto sex worker activists like Gwendolyn, Danny Cockerline and Chris Bearchell, transsexual prostitute Jeanne B. decides to head for the big English city and join in the revolution. With only a small cheap 8mm home video camera as weapon, she begins performing a personal video diary of her life as a street hooker. While her character indulges in self-confessional and self-portraiture, the activist is engaging with "the gaze", ensuring some level of agency in her representation and playing a dirty trick on the narrative conventions associated with transsexual and prostitute autobiography.

TEASE [c. 1992] is excerpted from the video diary archives of Jeanne B.

Shot c. 1992. Edited Jan. 2007 by Mark Karbusicky. Released Sept. 2011.
