Busshead Hardhead is a short split-screen video forming part of an installation called Busshead Hardhead for the Plural of He Exhibit (March - July 2024) at Leslie Lohman Museum, curated by Andil Gosine.

On the left side of this split screen video, the viewer sees the legs of a beach walker, moving back and forth, struggling to come to terms with their fractured queer Black and Caribbean identity. This beach walker is akin to the silent walker in Édouard Glissant’s Poetics of Relation (1997). The other side of the screen is the filmmaker’s captured performance and ritualistic dance of a Caribbean Carnival character called The Great Bernadine, Royal Cobo/Midnight Robber of the Caribbean (Royal B). This Caribbean Carnival character is associated with the ancestral realm and reminds us that there have always been queer relationships in the Caribbean. Referencing women’s queer relationships (Matis) among the Maroon in Suriname, Royal B asserts that their hard head (determination) helped them and can help their descendants survive. In the final frame the Royal B passes on the Queer Bois – a carnivalized and queered hockey stick.

This is a silent video and instead of sound, text is placed on the video to reveal the thoughts of the actors.
