For this piece Andrew Finlay Stewart and Aby Watson collaborated to make a performance video that appears at first glance as a looping GIF or Boomerang video, endlessly repeating a short motion backwards and forwards. When viewed closely though, it is in fact a performance that Watson is carefully and meticulously repeating over the course of half an hour, with only slight variation as her body tires.
Installation instructions: The video plays forward and then reverses. It’s designed to loop, with only a brief break at the beginning and end when the performer breaks the pattern.
Made collaboratively with Glasgow-based artist, maker, performer, and researcher Aby Watson.
