Breathing Through Opposing Nostrils is a gay espionage thriller, exploring themes of paranoia, sexism, sectarian infighting and infiltration within the organized gay community. Its plot is as follows: a gay man is producing a National Film Board documentary on police harassment of the gay community. The lesbian he hires to do the narration quits half-way through, accusing him of being an R.C.M.P. agent. He in turn, accuses her of the same and produces actual R.C.M.P. surveillance films to prove it.
