The triumph of the Sandinista Revolution provoked an increase in US counter- revolution war in Central America. El Salvador became the model for a military dictatorship beneath a complex and sophisticated political farce. El Salvadore became the focal point for the application of the "low intensity warfare" concept which combines 3 elements:
Genocide - 50,000 deaths in 1980 and 1981.
Intensification Of The War - Placing the Salvadorean army under US control.
A Civil Facade - The Salvadorean Government attempts to implement reforms to win support from the repressed populace.
