Judowomen have Messengers as Assistants (Judofrauen haben als Hilfe boten)

Ulrike Rosenbach

1981, 30:00 minutes, colour

In the first half of the performance, Rosenbach holds a monologue with the male profile seen on the video monitor, while stroking the screen with both hands. Abruptly she moves away from the monitor and begins to walk energetically from one side of the room to the other with large steps, at the same time reciting a German children's rhyme. Rosenbach's recitations cease and the eerie, hypnotic laughter of Eskimo women is heard. Rosenbach begins to draw with both hands on the black paper covering the back wall.
